Volunteer for rural underpriviledged kids education

Helping underpriviledged students in rural areas with educational resources

What You'll Do

Volunteers create a memorable experience for our donors by executing what we call the “special sauce” of our Thank‑You Package Process.

We’re looking for people who:

Can start local chapters in their community in USA. High School or College Students and Professionals from a variety of backgrounds. You can volunteer your time and skills to the extent you feel comfortable. You can help by spreading awareness about our mission, helping with organizational tasks, helping organize fundraising events. Most important is Believe in our mission to help the underprivileged students in rural areas in India.

Write Donor Thank-Yous

We practice what we preach: in addition to asking students to send us thank-you notes for donors, we also ask volunteers to handwrite their own notes to a selection of our donors. But don't worry: there's no penmanship test!

Volunteer for a cause

Akshara Dana is looking to expand its presence around the USA. The creation of an local Akshara Dana chapter significantly accelerates the process of spreading awareness in that area. Starting a new chapter requires bringing together a core group of people who are willing to devote a few hours per month for this cause. This core group can spread awareness using    e-mail, personal contacts, cultural organizations or Indian stores. A full-fledged chapter could have activities to whatever level their time and resources allow.

Interested in starting a new Chapter?  Contact us about it.
